Christopher James has extensive experience in business and diplomacy. He began his career in the British Army before joining the Foreign Office in 1975 and serving for 20 years in a number of positions across Africa, India and Europe.
In 1994, he set up Hakluyt, a pioneering company providing commercial intelligence to many of the world’s leading global corporations. He left Hakluyt in 2006 and founded Malachite, a company which provides strategic advice for investors wishing to expand their businesses in emerging markets. He retired from Malachite in 2012.
